So What Exactly is Applied Improvisation? Find out at the AIN Manila Mini Conference

The Manila Applied Improvisation Network Mini Conference will be held from June 25-26 at Casa San Pablo in Laguna.

This somewhat (but only marginally) more serious conference shall kick off the Manila Improv Festival by gathering together clients, practitioners, actors and other interested folk who use or are very interested in using improvisational theater techniques in their various fields of work.

The AIN website puts it way more eloquently –

It’s not about hiring actors or setting up role plays. For the AIN, it is about practising and developing skills to help people communicate more effectively. We take the techniques out of theatre (and other arts), and apply them to create:

  • strategies that are more effective because more inclusive
  • better relationships in teams founded on skills of co-operation
  • more incisive leadership
  • more responsive and alert coaching
  • more compelling presentations, enriched by spontaneity and well-crafted stories

The AIN Mini Conference we will be hosting will be the very first of its kind in South East Asia and only the second conference to be held in Asia.

Leading the conference together with yours truly is Paul Z. Jackson, president and one of the founders of the Applied Improvisation Network who will be flying in all the way from the United Kingdom to be with us at the conference.

We’ve got an interesting lineup of topics that we will be jumping into during the conference. Among them are –

  • Improvisation and Working with Kids with Special Needs – Bibay Cordero, Special Education Teacher
  • Improv Games in Teaching Philippine Literature –  Ariel Diccion, Ateneo de Manila & Peking University
  • The Coconut Plantation and the 101 Ways To Use The Coconut – An Mercado-Alcantara, Plantation Owner

Plus a few more exciting sessions that we are awaiting final confirmation on.

We have only 15 slots 4 slots left available to practitioners in the human resource, leadership and development and creative fields.

The conference fee is 12,000 inclusive of materials, meals, transportation and shared accommodations at Casa San Pablo, our conference venue.
